Bowley's On The Bay Cream Of Crab Review
Sitting with my toes buried in the sand at Bowley's on the Bay in Middle River, I found myself completely charmed by this beach bar vibe. Palm trees sway gently against a backdrop of orange tents and an aperol-hued sky, creating the perfect setting for soup season. The ambiance is undeniably great, offering a refreshing escape that feels worlds away from the usual dining routine.
The bowl itself arrived with a striking orangish hue, topped generously with lump and backfin meat and a dusting of Old Bay. I love that contrast: the soup steaming hot while the fresh crab remains delightfully cold. The viscosity hit that sweet medium spot, almost perfect for swirling. It carries a strong, salty, and peppery kick from the seasoning, letting the high-quality crab shine through without being masked by heavy cream.
While it’s a smaller portion that won’t serve as a full meal, the quality more than makes up for it. Paired with an ice-cold Nantucket Belle, this was a pure joy. The fresh crab flavor is undeniable, making every spoonful worth the trip to the shore.
