Harpoon Hannah’s Cream of Crab Across the Border Stepping into Harpoon Hannah’s in Penwick Island, Delaware, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, filled with the buzz of friendly conversations and the tantalizing aroma of freshly made crab soup. The bowl itself was a sight to behold—a light tan broth that looked like a cozy hug in soup form. The soup had a medium thickness, just enough to coat the back of your spoon and make you want to dive in. I could see chunks of lump crab meat and some back fin, along with a few pieces of claw meat that added a nice, salty contrast. The texture was delightful—creamy and rich, with a slippery viscosity that spoke of quality ingredients. I savored the shells I found in my bowl, knowing they were a sign of authenticity. I was also treated to a nice lump crab meat fight in every bite. It was a real seafood lovers soup, with just a touch of butter that didn't overwhelm. The only thing missing was a hint of sherry, but that's a small quibble in an otherwise outstanding bowl. It was so good that I thought it could easily be a component lunch plus an appetizer.
